Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 536bhp 6WD brings forth an Apocalypse Machine

Killer-M | On 14, Mar 2013

Mercedes has just released the G63 AMG 6×6, the worlds largest and most extreme road legal SUV – a perfect machine to bring in, what ever Apocalypse you see coming, in style. This brute of a vehicle is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5 liter V8 power plant that generates a staggering 536bhp and 560lb ft of torque.

All that power is transferred to it’s six wheels via a 7G-tronic, seven speed automatic transmission and a transfer case with high and low ratios. The drive-train features electronic differential locking that offers 100 percent lockup of all six wheels. Ensuring maximum traction and grip in even the most extreme circumstances.

On the street, the G63 AMG 6×6 is equivalent to an armored rhino sustaining a bursting sprint from 0 – 62mph in less than 6 seconds, which is quite the feat for a truck weighing in at 3775kg.

Top speed is limited electronically to 100mph to preserve the massive 37 inch tires from shredding and obliterating any pedestrians near by. If you find yourself off road, it features an on-board compressor with 20 liter tanks of gas that allows for quick adjustment of tire pressure to suite any given terrain.

The G63 can crawl over pretty much anything you throw at it, with a 6 wheel ground clearance coming at a whopping 460mm, with a fording depth of 1000mm.

There’s plenty of cargo room too, which may come in handy for additional cans of fuel as this thirsty beast consumes an average of 1 gallon every 15 miles. Fuel is pumped in from two fuel tanks with a capacity of 159 liters. Oh and yes, the cabin is more spacious than the standard G63 AMG.

Military versions are also being developed with Mercedes-Benz’s 220bhp 3.0 liter diesel V6 with a five speed automatic gearbox.

Officially sales are targeted to get underway in October 2013 with a price tag set in the $500,000 US (350,000 British Pound) mark.
