These guys test a lot of vehicles and were one of the first to put the Porsche 997 Turbo S through it’s paces. Their test vehicle blew through the 3 second mark and was quickly compared to the Bugatti Veyron when it came to launching from a dig!
One serious problem with the 997 Turbo (in stock form) is the fact that it uses really soft, “cushiony” mounts. They were primarily introduced to give the super car a more touring like driving feel, reduce engine vibration and cabin noise. This decision was a terrible mistake that was corrected in 2010 when Porsche introduced dynamic engine mounts, however RSS has come up with a perfect solution for the 2007 – 2009 cars.
We got a few owner-experts and one semi-professional driver to test out a stock 2007 Porsche Turbo, another equipped with after market Bilstein coilovers (and other goodies), a 2008 GT2, and 2010 Porsche GT3. Switching back and forth between all four cars for about 3-4 hours in twisty canyon roads – we all reached some interesting conclusions.
The Panamera Sport Turismo concept study stands for Porsche’s way of using hybrid technology. With performance values from a standstill that exceed expectations, and with consumption values that many people may not expect – thanks to innovative drive technology. This is based on our philosophy which holds that the future of sports cars will not be defined by horsepower alone. Ideas are what start to move us forward.
