IMHO these are the best used sports/super cars out there. I’ve had mine for 8 years, with very little mechanical problems, even with progressively tuning it. This year it was a decision between selling and moving into a new GT3 991.1 or updating it to OEM GT2RS look (it’s already conservatively tuned to 850 hp with full suspension and break update, including DSC)… I decided to keep it… it’s been in the shop for 3 months now being resprayed and updated – in two weeks I’ll be picking up a car that will look like a $1/2M GT2RS, will be faster, and will handle “almost” as good. It will be with me at least another 10 years. There really is no substitute for these beasts.
Thought I’d write a quick update on what I have recently heard of the current state of the Porsche 997 Tuners. These, in most cases are respected Porsche tuners, however there seems to be some information (relayed to me) that I thought I might make public aroundtheir performance.I heard some rather interesting and a bit disturbing information on how they develop their tunes and why in most cases they are flawed.
It’s been a few months now that a strange creek has developed from the front of the car, and progressively becoming worse (after spirited driving or any prolonged drive on a hot day). Going consensus is that it is the front Control Arm. I figured, if I’m replacing that, I might as well replace some other suspension parts.

So it looks like it will be official, Porsche AG is looking to debut the 2013 Porsche 991 Turbo at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013. There’s a lot of speculation around this supercar, however it’s safe to say that the turbocharged engine will be a 3.8 liter six cylinder, boxer layout (that means the cylinders are horizontally opposed to each other). Power will be applied to an all wheel drive system with a max output in at 530 hp – slightly more than the outgoing Porsche 997 Turbo S.
Mind blowing technology, simply staggering numbers – pretty much all I could say after watching Porsche’s Andreas Preuninger (The man behind all of Porsche’s GT cars) elaborate on the technology that went into the 991 Porsche GT3. Among them the fastest gear shifting mechanism in ANY production car on the planet. Les than 100th of a millisecond, together with an updated engine capable of over 9000 rpm range!
These guys test a lot of vehicles and were one of the first to put the Porsche 997 Turbo S through it’s paces. Their test vehicle blew through the 3 second mark and was quickly compared to the Bugatti Veyron when it came to launching from a dig!
